Live Nation Canada Marks Earth Week With New Sustainability Milestones at Rogers Stadium

KEY TAKEAWAYS
Rogers Stadium advanced major waste‑reduction efforts, diverting 65% of waste from landfill through a 24/7 sorting program, with a goal of reaching 70% for the 2026 season.
Significant progress was made in cutting single‑use plastics, including compostable service ware, paper cups, canned water, plant‑based cups avoiding 550,000+ plastic bottles, fully compostable ponchos from Green Gear, and Draft Top can cutters reducing the need for 320,000+ additional cups.
New sustainability initiatives expanded recycling and lowered emissions, including specialty recycling with Go Zero, the use of sustainable hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel, and 40+ refillable water stations saving an estimated 650,000 single‑use plastic bottles.
Live Nation Canada is marking Earth Week by highlighting major progress underway at Rogers Stadium to reduce waste, cut single‑use plastics, and advance Green Nation, the company’s global commitment to lowering the environmental impact of live events. These efforts are made possible through close collaboration with partners across the venue, including Liberty Oak View Group, who oversee food and beverage offerings and play a key role in implementing sustainable practices
Last season, Live Nation’s partnership with Impact Cleaning transformed waste management operations at the stadium. A dedicated 24/7 sorting team diverted 65% of waste from landfill by separating materials into multiple streams, with a goal of reaching 70% diversion for the 2026 season.
Significant strides were also made in reducing single‑use plastics. Compostable utensils and food service ware, paper cups, and canned water replaced traditional plastic options across the venue. Plant‑based disposable cups helped avoid more than 550,000 single‑use plastic water bottles, while Draft Top can cutters further reduced the need for more than 320,000 additional cups.
New partnerships expanded the venue’s impact. Go Zero enabled specialty recycling of 1,800 lbs of typically non‑recyclable items, and a reusable cup program with Muuse during four Coldplay shows returned more than 114,000 cups to circulation — diverting 7,100 lbs of waste and avoiding nearly 14,000 kg of CO₂ emissions. Live Nation also partnered with GreenGear to provide fully compostable ponchos for fans, reducing plastic waste during inclement weather events. In addition, the stadium is transitioning to using sustainable hydrogenated vegetable oil (HVO) fuel to help lower greenhouse gas emissions from operations.
Across the venue, more than 30 refillable water stations — supported by Event Water Solutions, Oland, and Brita — helped save an estimated 650,000 single‑use plastic bottles.
Live Nation Canada remains focused on advancing Green Nation goals and continuing to reduce the environmental impact of operations at Rogers Stadium.
