Steelhead, a new 3,500-capacity live entertainment venue currently in development in Portland’s Central Eastside neighborhood, is on track for a summer 2027 opening.
Developed by Beam Development and Colas Development Group—two Portland-based, family-owned companies—in partnership with Live Nation, the project will expand Portland’s live music infrastructure while supporting local artists, promoters, and community events.
To give fans a glimpse of the experience, Steelhead will curate and produce the live music lineup for the One Motorcycle Show taking place May 1–3. Performers include: Whitey Morgan, Chevy Metal, and Barbarians of California. The Portland-based team will also be on site with fan giveaways and an early look at the new venue.
New exterior and interior renderings have also been revealed, offering an early view of the venue’s design and fan experience. Designed in collaboration with locally based Lever Architecture and Blueprint Studio, Live Nation’s in-house design and development group, the venue will reflect the community’s creative identity while prioritizing the artist and fan experience—from state-of-the-art acoustics and great sightlines to efficient layouts that keep fans immersed in the show.
Steelhead takes its name from the steelhead trout of the Willamette River, a species known for its toughness and instinct to move upstream, mirroring the venue’s connection to Portland’s independent spirit.
The venue is designed to complement existing venues while filling a gap in the city’s live music ecosystem, bringing more national touring acts to Portland while creating more opportunities for local artists to connect with fans.
The project is expected to create approximately 200 permanent jobs, with a starting wage of at least $20/hour, while also supporting the local economy and attracting visitors to Portland.
Mary Clare Bourjaily, Market President for Oregon, Live Nation: “Steelhead has been a true labor of love for the Portland-based creative collective bringing it to life. We couldn’t be more excited to make our home in the dynamic Central Eastside, contributing to the local music scene and creating a space where fans and artists can fully experience everything this vibrant neighborhood has to offer. Introducing Steelhead PDX at the One Moto Show, in partnership with its incredible team, marks the culmination of that vision—and just the beginning of what’s to come.”
